The Budgie phono stage has a single-ended, Class A, all vacuum tube audio path using a passive RIAA equalization with hand matched components and external 6DJ8/6922 tubes for ease of tube rolling. No op amps are used unlike other sub-$500 “tube” phono preamps. Moving Coil cart users can add an external Budgie SUT for maximum flexibility ($339 extra).
